Volunteer

The role of families is a pivotal part of The Gardner School.  We depend on all of us to make the school run well.  Every family is asked to give of their time and talent to the school.  When you volunteer at The Gardner School, your children see that you value their community enough to give your time and energy.  They learn how to be a part of a community, part of our country, and a citizen of the world.  They learn how highly you value their education and their school.  And The Gardner School community can’t run without the thousands of volunteer hours that you contribute.

Volunteering can also benefit you as a parent.  For one thing, it lets you meet other parents who can give you deeper insights into the lives of your children and their classmates.  Meeting fellow parents may also enhance your professional connections and personal friendships.  It also lets you get to know your child’s school:  who the staff and volunteer leaders are, why the school does what it does, and how the mission is carried out.  But perhaps more importantly, volunteering is an expression of your interest in, and commitment to, your child’s daily life.

Families in Kalama through Tahoma are asked to contribute a minimum of 35 hours and Mazama families are asked to contribute a minimum of 20 hours to supporting school-wide community activities.
